Manitowoc Crane Strike Ends

January 27, 2012–A two-month strike by workers at Manitowoc Crane, Manitowoc, Wis., has ended, according to an NBC26 news report. The striking machinists voted 112-59 this week to accept an agreement with the company.

About 200 workers walked off the job in mid-November after working on an expired contract.

In a media statement, Manitowoc Cranes said: “Manitowoc Cranes is pleased that members of IAM Local 516 followed the recommendation of its union leadership to vote for the tentative agreement. We would also like to thank the federal mediator for his role in helping us to work together to resolve the issues.  This has been a stressful situation, but now we will begin the process of bringing people back to work and getting back to what we do best—building the world's finest cranes.”
