Crane Accident: Long Beach, Calif.
January 2012–A longshoreman was crushed to death by an 8-ton storage container at the Port of Long Beach. As a shore-side crane was lifting a 20-foot container, a 40-foot unit tumbled onto the worker. The accident is being investigated by both federal and state OSHA. —latimes.com
