Key Sponsors Sign on for CRC Canada 2015
May 20, 2015 – Heartland Construction Div., Fort Dodge, Iowa, announces that the initial sponsors of the Crane & Rigging Conference Canada, to be held Nov. 9-10, 2015 in Edmonton, Alberta, represent rigging education and technical services, crane products, and construction insurance specialists.
Event Partner and Associate Sponsor of CRC Canada are, respectively, Industrial Training International, with a Canadian office in Nisku, Alberta, and Liebherr-Canada Ltd., provider of Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes sales and service in Canada. Both companies are returning sponsors. In addition, a new insurance provider, providing local, industry specific risk control services, will make its debut at the conference, also as an Event Partner.
ITI specializes in crane operator, rigger, and supervisory level training, and custom field services, including lift planning and accident investigations. During the conference, ITI experts will facilitate a session to identify the major risk areas in industrial overhead crane and rigging work and will direct an interactive lesson on accident investigation in heavy industrial environments.

A major issue in industrial environments that likely contributes to those statistics is that overhead cranes are often viewed as a tool to facilitate the manufacturing process or to conduct plant maintenance. With this perspective, organizations can lose sight of the risks associated with rigging, lift planning, and equipment management,” said Zack Parnell, president of ITI. “The workshop we will conduct at CRC Canada will challenge participants with an accident investigation of an industrial case that may seem more realistic than some would like to admit.”
Working in conjunction with the Canadian Hoisting & Rigging Safety Council and other important construction owner, contractor, government, and safety groups, CRC Canada will provide a forum for the discussion of key issues facing the crane and rigging industry in Canada. Tentative topics include:
- How a national demonstration of skills test for operators improves labor mobility and safety
- Predicting crane and rigging labor demand and supply in Canada
- Qualifying and quantifying competency skills for crane and rigging supervisors
- Best practices for creating a crane safety culture
CRC Canada brings together crane and rigging professionals in an effort to advance the common goal of harmonizing the qualification of workers, improving construction and business climate by standardizing regulations, and improving safety to reduce accidents.
