Dropped Load - Hanover, N.J.

February 2016 - One worker was killed at the scene and another died at a hospital when a sling apparently snapped, dropping a 10,000-lb. generator from a boom truck crane onto workers. OSHA was onsite to launch an investigation into the fatal accident that occurred as the crane was lowering the generator onto a concrete pad, in reportedly windy conditions, at the site of a fire station under construction. With the help of a front-end loader, first responders recovered the body of the worker who was trapped under the generator, while the injured worker was taken to a local hospital with a collapsed lung, broken ribcage, and leg injuries. He died just hours after the accident – www.dailyrecord.com and www.ctpost.com
