September 23, 2016 - Southwest Industrial Rigging has added a 330-ton Liebherr crawler crane to its fleet of more than 70 mobile and crawler cranes. Since 2014, the company has added over 1,000 tons of capability to their crane fleet, and spent $10 million for new crane equipment over the last 24 months, making their fleet one of the newest in the Southwest, according to the company.

In the third quarter of 2016, Southwest acquired a contract for a large construction project in the Aurora, Colo. area. The new crawler crane, which made its way from Germany to Colorado via the Port of Galveston, Texas, was assembled in August in preparation for the project.

“The tilt panel contract was a large deciding factor on purchasing the new crawler. We have heard good things in the industry about the machine and its heavy lift capabilities,” said Mike Madge, company vice president. Southwest plans to invest in an additional LR1300 by the end of 2016 in an effort to acquire more tilt panel work in the Southwest.

“It is important to keep the communication going with our customers in regards to future needs in their industries. This allows us to strategically purchase the right equipment to meet the demands for lifting solutions when they arise,” continued Madge. The company also is eyeing opening a branch in the Denver area sometime in the near future to make equipment more readily accessible to the customers in those areas.
