Crane Collapse Stewartsville, Mo.

October 2016 – No one was injured when a mobile crane, lifting a rotor to be attached to a 500-ft. tall wind turbine, collapsed and fell over at the 97-turbine Osborn Wind Energy Center wind farm. The rotor, with blades more than 100 ft. long, crashed to the ground with the crane. One witness suggested wind gusts, reported up to 25 mph, may have been a factor in the accident, which heavily damaged the crane’s boom.
