April 3, 2017 - At ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017, the TII Group presented the Scheuerle HighwayGiant PB, a new PowerBooster addition for the North American market, and the Scheuerle HighwayTrailer MES (Modular Extra Strong), which allows the transportation of standard loads and self-supporting long loads using one vehicle.

With the HighwayGiant PB, the TII Group showed a Dual Lane Trailer, which can be folded and loaded onto standard trucks for more efficient mobilization. This saves on any cost-intensive approval processes. The construction not only allows different vehicle widths and the possibility of safely widening the vehicle when under load. This ensures compliance with a range of regulations in different states.

In order to achieve an optimum payload/dead weight ratio, the bogie units are designed using a stable lightweight construction. A gooseneck or drawbar is used to connect to the pulling vehicle while equipment like spacer coupling elements or decks can also be easily integrated.

The central element of the Highway Giant is Scheuerle’s pendulum axle technology. Hydraulic cylinders in the pendulum axles offer the greatest displacement volume on the market, which has been designed to allow loads to be driven under and then raised. The pendulum axle bearings, in connection with the steering system, guarantee simple maneuvering procedures when negotiating tight corners. An auxiliary aggregate provides additional thrust during the journey and allows the use as a self-propelled vehicle without a tractor. Under certain circumstances, a second tractor unit is not required during transport, and the load can be safely maneuvered when reaching the final destination even in confined spaces.

The Scheuerle HighwayTrailer MES at the show is characterized by its low dead weight and the high bending moment. It merges the requirements for transporting oversized loads, as well as point loads on a single vehicle, which enables the owner to carry out a range of transport assignments with only one modular vehicle.

The HighwayTrailer MES can be configured as a semi-trailer for all types of loads along with the option of connecting two platform trailers for accommodating extremely long loads, e.g. distribution pillars, containers, or large beams weighing up to 115 tonnes. This allows transport companies to expand their transport portfolio if required while using the HighwayTrailer MES as a semi-trailer for daily assignments.
