Leavitt Cranes Acquires Pacific Tower Crane, Pacific Lift Equipment Assets

April 12, 2017 Leavitt Cranes announces it has purchased the assets of Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment from Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co. of Memphis, Tenn.

In 2015, Barnhart purchased Sicklesteel Cranes, which included multiple mobile crane and rigging entities, as well as Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment. As Barnhart continues to focus its core business on mobile cranes, engineered rigging, and project cargo logistics, it has agreed to sell the tower crane divisions of Sicklesteel Cranes to Leavitt Cranes. Barnhart will still provide operated crane rentals, rigging services, outage planning, and project cargo logistics from its four branches in Oregon and Washington.

Leavitt Cranes has grown throughout the Pacific Northwest in recent years, and the acquisition of an additional tower crane division in Washington solidifies its position as one of the largest tower crane dealers in their territory.

“The acquisition of Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment brings new opportunities to Leavitt Cranes, as well as new opportunities to customers," said Tom Leavitt, CEO and president of Leavitt Machinery and Leavitt Cranes. "It is my hope that with an increased product line and multiple brands to serve them, customers will have more options and will benefit from an increased product offering.”

Adding value to customers is a priority for Leavitt Cranes, and it anticipates that the crane division will work closely with the rental and construction division of Leavitt Machinery, providing additional products, services, and aftermarket support within the construction industry in Washington and Oregon.

Leavitt Cranes will operate from a facility in Tacoma, Wash., which will accommodate its operations and service team. In addition to the Tacoma facility, Leavitt Cranes will be establishing a location in Mount Vernon to support its administrative and management group.

The majority of Pacific Tower Crane’s and Pacific Lift Equipment’s employees have been retained by Leavitt Cranes. Thom Sicklesteel will be assuming the role of general manager for Leavitt Cranes’ operations in the United States.

Leavitt Cranes provides flat top, hammerhead, and luffing jib tower cranes, as well as self-erect and mini crawler crane, sales, rentals, service, parts and training. Brands now include Terex, Kroll, Manitex, Jekko, and Smartlift, and as well as a variety of Butti under-hook attachments and accessories.
