Tracy Bennett, a 20-year veteran of the crane industry, will become director of the Lift & Move USA career program, starting January 1, 2018.
She replaces Brett Melvin, who has led the program since it was created in 2015. He Melvin has created a new organization, Bridging America’s Gap, which will begin operating in January.
Bennett started out as a journalist, and later became editorial director for Maximum Capacity Media and then Heartland Communications, Inc., which publishes Crane Hot Line and Lift and Access magazines. She was also instrumental in organizing and running Maximum Capacity Media’s crane and rigging conferences. Bennett currently owns and operates the business-to-business marketing company Mighty Mo Media Partners LLC.

Her experience in organizing educational events also includes helping the Steel Erectors Association of America in marketing Ironworker Training and Apprenticeship programs, and helping her local school district to bring in parents and community professionals to teach career readiness skills.
Lift & Move USA is produced by SC&RA, NCCCO, SC&R Foundation, and KHL Group to promote careers in the crane, rigging, and specialized transport sector. The program puts on half-day career events for high school and college students and veterans, hosted by SC&RA members.
“Helping students expand their horizons by introducing them to the concept that rewarding, profitable careers exist outside of the college path is a first step in remedying the qualified labor shortage our industry faces,” said Bennett.
