August 8, 2018 - ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, part of the ALL Family of Companies, provided the crane and operator to pick and place HVAC equipment and ducting that Shippers Highway Express Inc. installed in one weekend atop an office tower in metropolitan Cleveland.

Shippers, headquartered in Garfield Heights, Ohio, had been hired to put new HVAC units on the multi-story office building in Brooklyn, Ohio, and had scheduled the project to take place over a weekend.

Analysis showed that one of ALL’s new 496-ton-capacity Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 all-terrain cranes was the right rig for the job, based on quick setup, lifting capacity, and its luffing jib’s ability to reach out more than 200’ over the building.

After the office had closed on Friday night, ALL set up the LTM 1450-8.1 in the parking lot and configured it with 295,400 lbs. of counterweight and 218’ of luffing jib.

Working steadily through Saturday and Sunday, the LTM 1450-8.1 lifted HVAC components from the parking lot up to Shippers’ rooftop installation crew. For much of the job, the crane’s telescopic main boom was extended to 70’, enough height for the luffing jib to set 40,000-lb. loads 115’ up at a 175’ radius.

Later in the project, the remaining HVAC components needed to be set at a 220’ radius. The LTM 1450-8.1’s ability to make those lifts with the same luffing-jib configuration saved about half a day.

By the end of Sunday, lifting was complete, so ALL dismantled the crane and moved it out Sunday night. When the building opened for business on Monday morning, the parking lot was empty and ready for the company’s employees.
