Meritor Launches Year-Long Aftermarket Training Series

January 3, 2019 - Throughout 2019, Meritor Inc., Troy, Michigan, will offer aftermarket training sessions focused on improving uptime and customer satisfaction by teaching parts and service personnel product information and proactive, solution-oriented skills.

“Investment in employee training is critical with today’s fast-evolving, heavy-duty truck technology,” said Joe Baumer, Meritor’s aftermarket training manager. “The success of service and parts facilities depends not only on repairing the truck right the first time, but also on training and retaining employees in a competitive job market.”

In 2019, the supplier of drivetrain, mobility, braking, and aftermarket solutions for commercial and industrial vehicles will host at least 12 regional training events across the U.S. and Canada for parts/sales and service personnel.

Meritor’s regional and on-site training includes day-long classes for parts/sales personnel, as well as Fleet Night sessions for service personnel.

“Today’s heavy-duty truck service and parts personnel need a variety of training options based on their skill and technology comfort levels,” said Baumer. “In addition to our on-site training events, Meritor offers an array of online and interactive distance training opportunities.”

Meritor’s online training resource, BullPen, is easily accessible on-demand 24 hours a day.

It offers individuals instant access technical training and up-to-date product information. It is also a training-management tool that lets supervisors plan and assign training, and monitor the progress of each team member. More than 430,000 Meritor BullPen courses have been completed successfully since 2004.

Meritor also provides multiple venues for live, instructor-led group training, including interactive distance training (IDT), regional location training events in cities across the U.S. and Canada, and on-site training at a customer’s facility.

Meritor’s IDT courses provide live training from seasoned Meritor instructors. Participants can interact with the instructor and presentation just as they were in the same room.

Noted Baumer: “Providing a supportive environment for employee growth through continuous on-the-job training keeps personnel at the top of their game and demonstrates a strong commitment to the employee. Employee satisfaction is a key element in maintaining customer satisfaction.”
