Liebherr Releases LTM 1110-5.1 at Bauma

Liebherr unveils the five-axle LTM 1110-5.1 at Bauma.

April 10, 2019 – Liebherr has released the new LTM 1110-5.1 five-axle crane at Bauma 2019.

The LTM 1110-5.1 features high load capacities with a long telescopic boom. The five-axle crane achieves axle loads of 12 tonnes (13.2 U.S. tons) with 13.1 tonnes (14.4 U.S. tons) of ballast, but can also be driven with a gross weight of less than 48 tonnes (52.9 U.S. tons) with a maximum axle load of 10 tonnes (11.0 U.S. tons).

With its maximum ballast of 28.7 tonnes (31.6 U.S. tons), it remains below an axle load of 15.5 tonnes (17.1 U.S. tons). A quick-change system for the ballast slabs ensures maximum flexibility for modifications. The variable support base, VarioBase, delivers particularly high load capacities with its widened rear supports.

Although the new LTM 1110-5.1 has lightweight construction, according to Liebherr, its 60-meter (196’11”)telescopic boom and maximum ballast of just 28.7 tonnes (31.6 U.S. tons) enable it to rival the performance of similar mobile cranes on the market.

The ability to carry up to 13.1 tonnes (14.4 U.S. tons) of ballast with an axle weight of 12 tonnes (13.2 U.S. tons) provides additional value for a five-axle crane. It means that crane operators can complete jobs at lower cost without having to transport additional ballast. Furthermore, the optional VarioBase generates a significant gain in lifting capacity in the zones above the supports.

The Liebherr 110-tonne (121.25-U.S.-ton) crane’s double-stage rear supports reach a width of 8.3 meters (27’3”) – 1.3 meters (4’3”) wider than the front supports, increasing the capacity over the rear supports even more. Liebherr calls the combination of the trapezoidal and variable support base VarioBase Plus.

The LTM 1110-5.1’s 60-meter (196’11”) telescopic boom is one of the longest in its crane class. In addition, a 10.8- to 19-meter (34’5” to 62’4”) folding jib is available, which, as an option, can also be adjusted hydraulically between 0° and 40°. Two 7-meter (23’) lattice sections can be installed to extend the telescopic boom for maximum hook height. A 2.9-meter (9’6”) erection jib and a runner, which can be swung to the side, are also included.

The six-cylinder, 400-kW (536.4-hp) Liebherr diesel engine delivers 2,516 Nm (1,855.7-lb.-ft.) of torque and satisfies the new European stage V emissions directive. It can also be built to comply with the regulations for countries outside of Europe.

The new ZF-TraXon gearbox transmits power to the crane's axles, with 12 gears that are changed automatically. The “DynamicPerform” version of the gearbox, with an oil-cooled multi-disc clutch, is used in the new LTM 1110-5.1. ECOdrive is also a new feature, delivering enhanced drive properties, which save fuel and reduce noise.
