Jeffers Crane GM Bucher Retires After 32 Years

July 28, 2020 — Butch Bucher has retired as general manager of Jeffers Crane Service in Oregon, Ohio, after 32 years at the helm. Jeffers is a member of the All Family of Companies.

He is succeeded by Marty Bowman, a 16-year veteran of the ALL Family, who managed Jeffers' Lima, Ohio, branch for the past four years.

Bucher’s career began in 1966, when he started working part-time while still in high school. In the 1970s, he switched to working in the crane business while attending college, before he entered the military.

By the 1980s, he was managing the Lima, Ohio, yard for Tilton Corp. He was promoted to general manager and moved to Toledo in 1991. When ALL bought Tilton in 1995, Bucher stayed as general manager until his retirement this year.

ALL President Michael L. Liptak said, “Butch’s word is rock solid. He does what he says. We’re lucky to have had his leadership and knowledge for so long.”

Bucher earned a reputation as a no-nonsense manager with a straightforward style. “There are times when you have to be tough and your decisions won’t be popular,” he said. “But when you’ve got a great group around you and everyone’s in the boat rowing together, that tough side is seldom needed. I’ve had a great crew that’s collaborated to get things done.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that the ALL family gave me,” Bucher said. “I sincerely couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work for and work with. I’ve been truly blessed.”

Bucher's successor, Bowman, started his career in the ALL Family of Companies as a crane operator before entering management.
