GKS and DICA Develop Handy Engineered Blocking

Nov. 12, 2020 - GKS Lifting and Moving Solutions has debuted the Jack and Roll Block, an engineered thermoplastic block that was created in partnership with DICA USA, which markets outrigger support pads for lifting equipment.

Both companies are members of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA).

The Jack and Roll Block replaces scrap wood to block heavy machinery, particularly during machinery moving operations.

“In partnership with GKS, DICA is pleased to have the opportunity to manufacture a safer, more durable blocking solution for the industrial market. Made from DICA’s engineered thermoplastic material, the new Jack and Roll Blocks are a highly durable and dependable solution guaranteed to never crack, splinter or rot,” said Joy Johnson, DICA’s vice president of sales and marketing.

The partnership allowed the two companies to come together and create a safer solution for blocking. “Naturally, we looked to partner with an SC&RA member, since they tend to have more expertise in the rigging marketplace,” said GKS Program Manager, Benjamin Dobrowolski. “DICA USA has been replacing wood outrigger pads for years, so they were a natural choice to partner when creating a solution to replace wood blocking technology.”

Each Jack and Roll Block stands 4” high, weighs 7 lbs., and has a rated capacity of 20 tons. For easy handling, it features DICA’s patented TuffGrip handle.
