Crane and Heavy-Haul Contractor Forca Chooses Used Liebherr Cranes

Dominican Republic, has taken delivery of six used Liebherr cranes in a short period of time.

Liebherr says that Força has the most modern crane fleet both in the Dominican Republic and in the entire Caribbean Sea.

Força decided to purchase used mobile cranes as a lower cost alternative to buying new ones, and it chose to buy Liebherrs.

Forca owner Jhon Modesto explained, “We can buy used cranes from Liebherr that have been inspected carefully and are in perfect condition or have been repaired by Liebherr. Nobody else offers the same service.”

Modesto added, “Normally, we would have to buy used machines as-seen from the USA. But we have to accept that there is a high level of uncertainty about the technical condition of the machines.”

Forca’s latest purchase was a package of four used Liebherr five-axle all-terrain cranes: two LTM 1130-5.1,  an LTM 1200-5.1, and an LTM 1220-5.2. All four had been factory-refurbished by Liebherr, and some had also been repainted.

The main kinds of use in the Dominican Republic include service and expansion work at electricity plants, work in the mining industry, and port expansion projects.

“As we do not have a service outlet for mobile cranes near us, the quality of the machines is

very important, of course, as is the fast, reliable delivery of spare parts,” said Modesto. “This is where Liebherr comes into its own, as it is the manufacturer as well, and its outlet in Mexico is a very good partner with which we can communicate in our own language.”

Modesto explained that Liebherr Mexico provides fast assistance whenever Forca needs it, and that most technical questions and problems are worked out via phone and video, without a service engineer travelling to the site. “We have 24/7 access to the well trained service engineers from Liebherr México. That was another major criterion in our purchase decision,” he said.
