Tadano Mantis Crane Helps Build Exploding 2020 Sign

Watch Video

Dec 30., 2020 - Callahan & Nannini Quarry, Salisbury Mills, New York, was hired to assemble a 50' high "2020" structure to be blown up on the late night show "Last Week Tonight" with John Oliver.

Callahan & Nannini built the structure using its Tadano Mantis 6010 telescopic-boom crawler crane and a rented JLG articulating boom lift.

The structure took 30 lifts to assemble, and the heaviest section weighed about 5,000 lbs.

VP Rob Nannini said, "It had LED light strips on the inside so we had to be very careful while picking sections."

Callahan & Nannini bought its 6010 Tadano Mantis from Empire Crane earlier this year and recently replaced it with a Tadano Mantis GTC-350 telescopic-boom crawler crane. Both rigs came from Tadano Mantis dealer Empire Crane Co., North Syracuse, New York.
