Terex Names New General Manager for Cranes Americas

Feb. 1, 2021 – Terex has named Andreas Ernst as its new general manager of cranes in the Americas. The appointment was effective on Jan. 25.

“I am very pleased that Andreas Ernst has joined Terex Cranes as general manager for Americas, bringing his experience in leading successful teams with a strong customer focus. This represents another meaningful step forward in our strategy of investing in our tower and rough terrain cranes businesses with a specific focus on the American market,” said Marco Gentilini, vice president of tower cranes at Terex.

Ernst will be based in the Wilmington, North Carolina, office and will assume responsibility for the Terex rough terrain, tower crane, and pick-and-carry crane business across the Americas region, including sales, service, and business development.

Ernst joins Terex from Steinert, where he was president of the North American region for almost three years, providing a range of sorting systems to the scrap, recycling, and mining industry.

Before that, Ernst had a long career with Sennebogen, selling and marketing material handling products across the Americas. He began his career in Germany in sales and marketing, moving to the U.S. in 2006.

“I am excited to join Terex Cranes Americas, a company that embodies my core values - putting the customer first, always keeping your word, and supporting passion, diversity, and real innovation,” said Ernst. “Together with the impressive support team in Wilmington and other Terex locations, we are continuing to develop an increased focus on individual needs of specific industry sectors within the crane market segment.”

Ernst added that this is a large venture, which will require a lot of investment and resources, which Terex has proven it is willing to put forward.

Kieran Hegarty, Terex MP president, said “America is our natural market and that represents only the first step to ensure we keep being a leading company in the lifting industry in all our product lines.”
