April 26, 2016 - A Quick Pick Crane Service, Derby, Conn., closed a deal to buy a 400-ton capacity Liebherr 1350 - 6.1 mobile crane. The second-largest hydraulic crane in the state of Connecticut, the machine offers 230 ft. of main power boom, 439 ft. total tip height, and a maximum horizontal reach of 310 ft.

The crane was purchased from Cranes, Inc. out of New York City, with Liebherr directly facilitating the transaction. Liebherr is involved in the aftermarket re-sale of their machines, and will provide Quick Pick with ongoing support and training.

The crane came equipped with a 230-ft. main boom, a 138-ft. fixed jib, and a Y Guy system.  New equipment has been purchased by Quick Pick to enhance the performance of the machine, including a 256-ft. luffing jib and a boom dolly, which will allow for more efficient travel through Connecticut. Other cranes this size in the state are required to have the boom removed for travel, adding the expense of additional trucking and an assist crane to assemble the machine.

Quick Pick forecasts using this crane on multiple applications in construction and industry, including assembling large tower cranes and bridges; building large precast buildings, structures, and windmills; building and maintaining power plants; and hoisting air conditioning units in hard-to-reach areas. Its size is a bit rare in the area, according to Quick Pick, so it will be a regional crane traveling throughout Connecticut, New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, and beyond.
