Advanced Precast Adds Shuttlelift DB50 Gantry Crane
Advanced Precast installs a Shuttlelift DB50 gantry crane to support growing precast concrete production and material-handling needs.
Advanced Precast Company, Inc. has added a Shuttlelift DB50 rubber-tired gantry crane at its Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, facility as part of ongoing efforts to support production growth and material-handling efficiency.
The Iowa-based precast concrete producer operates a 70,000-square-foot facility with four casting lines, producing structural and architectural prestressed concrete products. Founded in 2008, the company has focused on operational efficiency despite its relatively small footprint.
“We are a small facility, but we are fast in how we operate,” said Randy Anderson, director of operations. “Because of our efficiencies, people often think we’re much larger than we actually are.”
As production volumes increased over several years, Advanced Precast identified the need for additional lifting capacity. Anderson first encountered Shuttlelift at a trade show, which led to further discussions about gantry crane options. “After getting to know Shuttlelift, we realized how easy it was to work together.”
The DB50 gantry crane includes features noted by operators and maintenance staff, including a spacious cab and platform layout and a low-mounted hoist design that allows access to key components from ground level or a ladder. The crane is also equipped with Shuttlelift’s IQAN diagnostic system, which supports troubleshooting and equipment uptime.
Installation of the crane was completed with minimal disruption to daily operations. Anderson stated, “The Shuttlelift technicians were incredibly self-sufficient, we were able to go about our normal day as they did their job. It was a seamless install. The learning curve from our previous equipment to Shuttlelift was easy and smooth.”
With the DB50 now in operation, Advanced Precast is positioned to manage increased production demands while maintaining existing performance standards.
