February 3, 2011 – ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, announced that in January approximately 70 qualified crane operators, oilers, maintenance crew, road mechanics, parts and weld shop personnel, and sales reps from the company’s Cleveland headquarters attended a training class, focusing on the inspection of rigging components and safe rigging practices. Rigorous technical training programs that surpass industry requirements are part of the company’s commitment to provide ongoing education for its employees.

“The purpose of the class was not only to keep our people sharp, but also to keep reinforcing training and education on rigging principles and practices in an effort to stay current with the new OSHA crane regulations,” said Kirk Ward, corporate safety director for the ALL’s family of companies, who organized the training class.

The combination hands-on and lecture class was presented by instructor Bob Graham of The Crosby Group, Tulsa, Okla., and the class was facilitated by rigging distributor Mazzella Lifting Technologies, Cleveland, Ohio. Everyone in the three-hour class also received workbooks and CDs as a resource for additional information.

“By all accounts, everyone in attendance found the class to be very informative,” said Ward. “We plan to hold additional rigging classes in the future that will be more intensive in nature. The company is working with Crosby to take the program to its other branches, and a few programs have already been scheduled.

“I’m pleased to see so many attending this training, asking questions, and moving their careers forward,” said Michael Liptak, ALL president. “Everything’s working right when the company’s commitment to training is matched by our employees’ commitment to continuous improvement.”
