ARA Sponsors Construction Challenge Team

October 15, 2007 • The American Rental Association, Moline, Ill., will sponsor a team in the Construction Challenge, a competition that will introduce teenagers to construction and position the industry as a preferred career choice. The Construction Challenge is a joint endeavor of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Destination ImagiNation, a Glassboro, N.J.-based organization that works to develop and implement programs that teach creative problem solving and teamwork.

Members of the ARA Construction Challenge team will compete against nearly 60 other teams at the national level in March 2008 at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, Nev. During the contest, teams of high school students from across the United States will work together to master segments on infrastructure awareness, construction-related jobs and construction equipment and manufacturing.

The sponsorship of a team at the Construction Challenge supports ARA's rental careers initiative, which helps job seekers better understand the rental industry and its career offerings. “We are proud to sponsor a Construction Challenge team,” said Chris Wehrman, ARA's CEO and executive vice president. “Rental is a fast-growing field that can offer a dynamic and exciting career path to men and women. This sponsorship is an excellent opportunity to promote the equipment rental industry to students who are positioned to make career choices in the near future.”
