Bigge Saluted During Bauma for 100 years in Operation
April 12, 2016 - This year, Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. marks its 100th anniversary as a sales and rental business. The San Leandro, Calif.-based company was recognized by several crane-manufacturing companies during Bauma this week.
As the world’s largest Terex dealer, Bigge was honored by the Terex Corp. with a salute on the “100 by 5” achievements, recognizing Bigge’s purchases of over 500 Terex cranes to date. Bigge was awarded in early 2016 for excellence and dedication as the Terex Service Distributor of the Year – 2015.
To commemorate Bigge’s ownership of 100 Manitowoc cranes and 12 Potain Igo tower cranes, Manitowoc presented an award acknowledging this unique company milestone to Weston Settlemier, Bigge’s president and CEO, and to the Bigge team. Manitowoc also introduced its new 90-tonne GRT8100 rough-terrain crane, marked with the Bigge logo.
In honor of Bigge’s centennial, Liebherr praised their long-standing partnership with Bigge. Standing in front of its LR 1300 crawler, Liebherr representatives shared how Bigge influenced the crane’s design phase and, in demonstrating Bigge’s trust with Liebherr, placed advanced orders on the crawler crane before the model was out in the market. Bigge was also recognized by the manufacturer as the world’s largest LR 1300 crawler crane owner.
The Tadano leadership team held a short ceremony to acknowledge Bigge’s many decades of success. “Our company has grown and prospered since 1916 by expanding and modernizing our fleet of cranes, rigging, hoists, and hauling equipment. Offering customers access to Tadano’s high-quality cranes is just one way that we achieve this goal,” said Settlemier.
