October 2, 2007 • The heavy-duty logistics specialist Breuer & Wasel, Bergheim, Germany, has added a Terex® Demag CC 2800-1 to its crane fleet. The crane will spend its first year working at Germany's largest power plant construction site in Grevenbroich-Neurath. A second Terex® Demag CC 2800-1 is also set to arrive at a later date.

The 661-ton Terex® Demag CC 2800-1 crane was handed over in Zweibrücken at the end of June. The machine is equipped with an almost 453-foot main boom (SSL/LSL/SGLmax), a 275-foot main boom extension and Sideways Superlift.

"The CC 2800-1 is the defining model in its class as well as the market leader,” said Matthias Wasel, managing director of Breuer & Wasel. “What swayed the decision for us was in particular its great flexibility. There is currently no other [661-ton] crawler crane available that offers so many effective configurations for very varied applications.”

The crane also features as an option the hydraulic quick-connect system that enables the superstructure and carriage to be connected and disconnected in only a few minutes. Other notable features are a lightweight almost 79-foot fixed fly jib (LF2) and wide track shoes, each 6.5 feet across. This is an advantage in situations such as the erection of wind power plants, because less pressure is put on the subsoil.

Breuer & Wasel has six locations and a fleet that includes 100 mobile, lattice boom and crawler cranes with lifting capacities of up to 1,100 tons. In addition, the company's tower crane division has 340 construction cranes.
