Cargotec Receives Order for 80 Hiab Knuckleboom Cranes

November 15, 2011Cargotec Corp., Helsinki, Finland, received a $5 million order to supply 80 Hiab knuckleboom cranes to Mexican oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX). The cranes, which will be used for maintenance and support applications in PEMEX's nationwide operations, will be delivered before the end of the year.

The order includes 19 Hiab XS 144 B-3 cranes, eight Hiab 175-5 models, 18 Hiab XS 211 EP-3 units, five Hiab XS 377 EP-5 models, four Hiab XS 422 EP-4 units and 26 Hiab XS 477 E-6 models.

Part of the Hiab mid-capacity range, the XS 144 offers a maximum lifting capacity of 111,000 foot-pounds and a maximum hydraulic outreach of 49’6”; and the Hiab 175 has a maximum lifting capacity of 124,000 foot-pounds and a 46’3” maximum hydraulic outreach. In the Hiab high-capacity line, the XS 377 offers a maximum lifting capacity of 259,000 foot-pounds and a maximum hydraulic outreach of 68.5’; the XS 422 has a maximum lifting capacity of 292,000 foot-pounds and a 68’3” maximum hydraulic outreach; and the XS 477 E-6 offers a maximum lifting capacity of 295,790 foot-pounds and a maximum hydraulic outreach of 54’2”.

The majority of the knuckleboom cranes are equipped with Hiab's CLX control system, except for the Hiab XS 477 E-6 models, which incorporate the Hiab Duo system.
