Ceccanti Takes Delivery of First Grove GHC220 in North America
June 2, 2026 - Ceccanti has taken delivery of the first Grove GHC220 in North America, adding a 220 USt telescoping crawler crane designed for high-capacity lifting, fast setup and enhanced pick-and-carry performance on complex jobsites.
Based in Tacoma, Washington, Ceccanti selected the crane for its combination of lifting capacity and mobility. The GHC220 is intended to support congested infrastructure projects where quick assembly and repositioning are required.
The crane was supplied by Western Pacific Crane & Equipment, a Manitowoc distributor serving the Pacific Coast from San Diego to Alaska and Guam. The company’s on-site support and parts availability were highlighted as key factors in ensuring efficient commissioning and ongoing service. Western Pacific Crane & Equipment and Grove support teams assisted Ceccanti during the commissioning process and provided training on the crane’s systems and capabilities.
Supporting infrastructure projects in Washington
The GHC220 is currently working on the Gravelly-Thorne Connector project, a 1.3-mile shared-use path along Interstate 5 between Tillicum and Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest in Lakewood, Washington.
After completion, the crane will move to the West Duwamish Wet Weather Storage facility project in Seattle, which was a key driver in the purchase decision. The project includes construction of a 1.25-million-gallon underground storage tank designed to capture stormwater and wastewater overflow before it reaches the Duwamish River and redirect it to a treatment plant.
The work includes lifts of 15 USt and more, including gang forms up to 36 feet tall that must be moved between positions. In some cases, the crane will be required to walk under load to reach set locations.
“We purchased this GHC220 with the storage tank project in mind, as it is a perfect fit for this application,” said Jon VanderGriend, vice president and chief estimator at Ceccanti. “It’s a busy jobsite, which makes the GHC220’s ease of assembly, combined with its lift-and-carry capability, the ideal choice for reaching every spot on the jobsite.”
Grove GHC220 capabilities
The GHC220 is the largest telescoping crawler crane in the Grove GHC lineup, offering heavy-duty lifting capacity and extended reach. It features an additional 90% pinning location on boom sections to increase capacity and setup flexibility.
When configured with a 71.5-foot manual or hydraulic swingaway extension, the crane reaches a maximum tip height of 265.7 feet.
With out-of-level load charts, the crane can pick and carry loads at 100% of its load chart on inclines up to 4 degrees while maintaining full 360-degree swing capability. It can be transported to job sites in six to seven loads and offers self-assembly for faster deployment.
“We believe our future is moving toward machines like the GHCs, which can offer high capacity while remaining quick to assemble and deploy on the jobsite,” VanderGriend said. “We are very excited about this machine. It combines the efficiency and lift ability of a rough terrain with the capabilities of a crawler crane.”
The new GHC220 is the eighth Manitowoc crane in Ceccanti’s fleet. The fleet is supported by parts and service from Western Pacific Crane & Equipment and Manitowoc aftermarket solutions, including training and digital tools.
