CIC Commits to Improved Registration, Quality of Exams

February 25, 2015 - Crane Institute Certification (CIC) has signed a long-term agreement with Assessment Systems Corp. (ASC), CIC’s Testing Partner, to manage accreditation projects. Over the next three months, CIC and Assessment Systems will roll out a new registration interface, using ASC’s “Certifior” platform, designed to provide real-time registration, candidate tracking, and easier navigation.

“The new interface incorporates the latest technology and is designed to provide a more user-friendly experience for CIC testing coordinators, practical examiners, and candidates,” said Jim Headley, CEO of CIC. “More importantly, the Certifior platform will enable us to move quickly to address changes in OSHA and industry requirements, safety trends, and customer demand. With this platform, we can mobilize our subject matter experts and implement revisions based on their input."

Working with ASC’s accreditation experts and psychometricians, CIC’s Mobile Crane and Rigging Advisory Committees have been reviewing the content and psychometric validity of all mobile crane category exams, and the rigger/signalperson exams. One key change is that the lattice boom carrier and lattice boom crawler categories have been combined and designated by Under 300 tons and Over 300 tons.
