Compass Equipment to Deal Potain Self-Erecting Cranes

July 1, 2008 • Compass Equipment, Phoenix, Ariz., has been appointed as a dealer for Manitowoc's self-erecting crane line from Potain. Compass Equipment will represent the brand for the state of Arizona. Compass is run by Kelly Hadland, a former Manitowoc employee and a registered professional engineer, who has experience with the Potain self-erecting crane line.

Compass Equipment is a start-up business and has chosen to focus on self-erecting cranes. It has already established a rental fleet with a number of Potain cranes. Most of the company's cranes are in the 85-foot to 147-foot jib range. Since taking on the Potain dealership, the company is now actively pursuing sales and rental opportunities.

Joe Maslizek, regional business manager for the self-erecting crane line from Manitowoc, said the company's hands-on approach will help them be successful. “Compass is very proactive in its approach and stages product demonstrations for customers and prospective customers at its Phoenix headquarters,” he said. “As a company they are extremely knowledgeable both of our product and their market. We expect them to be very successful.”
