December 11. 2015 - U.S. Congressman Lou Barletta (R), representative for the 11th district in Pennsylvania was at Stephenson Equipment, Inc.’s (SEI) Harrisburg, Pa. facilities last week to discuss his future sustainable highway funding ideas and the recent house approval of the highway bill with congressman Barletta’s priorities in place.

Meeting with Stephenson’s President Dennis Heller, EVP & CFO Robert Criste, and VP & Wilkes-Barre branch manager Dave Donati, the Congressman also discussed bonus depreciation legislation and his feelings that it should get passed before the end of the year. Stephenson Equipment is active in the political arena and realizes the importance of sharing the voice and view of a local company involved in the heavy equipment and highway industry with lawmakers like Congressman Barletta, according to a company statement.

In a recent press release Congressman Barletta expressed his disappointment with the offsets in the highway bill, and feels it is irresponsible that neither the house nor the senate has worked on serious reforms that will provide the Highway Trust Fund with a sustainable funding source.

In their meeting the Congressman told SEI that he looks forward to working with his colleagues on policy ideas that could be included in a comprehensive bill to ensure the Highway Trust Fund has a sustainable funding source long- term said Dennis Heller SEI President & CEO.

Stephenson representatives discussed their views on how the Highway Bill affects them and the importance of sustainability of the Highway Trust Fund to a local business like SEI, which employs 140 people at its six locations across Pennsylvania and New York.

“It is great to have someone like Lou in office. His background in road construction and as a mayor are of great value in his position on the House Transportation  and Infrastructure Committee, and it shows by his efforts to secure a number of victories in the highway bill for transportation safety, reduced regulation and just plain common sense,” said Dennis Heller SEI President & CEO.
