The Crane Institute of America has appointed L.D. Stutes as its new general manager. Known as a leader in training for heavy-equipment operators, riggers, signalpersons and inspectors, the Crane Institute aims to further its mission with Stutes’ extensive expertise.
Bringing 37 years of experience in business ownership, sales and management — 17 of which were spent in heavy-equipment training — Stutes will focus on enhancing operational effectiveness and adapting to the evolving needs of the heavy-equipment, lifting and construction industries.
In this role, Stutes takes on many operational duties previously managed by founder James Headley, who remains president and CEO.
"I'm excited to join Crane Institute and the respected reputation that it has built over the years," Stutes said.
"I look forward to leading the company as it continues to make training more effective, convenient and efficient in the coming years."
Stutes has also been named general manager of Crane Institute Certification (CIC), an American National Standards Institute-accredited organization found by Headley.
CIC provides Occupational Safety and Health Administration-accepted crane operator certifications from across the United States. Stutes' dual role ensures both organizations remain aligned in serving the industry with excellence.
