Crane Manufacturers and Dealers Make Major Management Shifts

May 9, 2007 • Several crane manufacturers, dealers and rental companies have recently announced new management appointments in key positions within their ranks.

Manitowoc, Wis.-based Manitowoc Company announced that its board of directors elected Glen Tellock to the position of president and CEO. Tellock succeeds Terry Growcock, who will remain as chairman of the board through 2008. Prior to being named CEO, Tellock had been senior vice president of The Manitowoc Company and president of Manitowoc Crane Group since 2002. He has also served as senior VP and chief financial officer, VP of finance and treasurer, corporate controller and director of accounting. Meanwhile, Growcock has been appointed by President Bush to a federal advisory committee for trade policy and negotiations. The appointement is for a four-year term.

Replacing Tellock as president of the Manitowoc Crane Group is Eric Etchart, who most recently has been serving as executive vice president of the Asia Pacific region. In addition, Etchart previously managed the Potain brand in Italy.

Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company, Lexington, Ky., appointed Chuck Martz to the newly created position of CEO, in addition to his current responsibilities as president. Martz was named to the position by Y. Hinou, chairman of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Link-Belt's parent company. Martz began his career with Link-Belt in 1975 and was named VP finance and administration in 1990. In 1994, he was named vice president of manufacturing. Martz assumed the responsibility of president of Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co. in 1998.

Retired Link-Belt executive John Claflin joins the board of directors of Tifton, Ga.-based Stafford Development Company. Claflin served at Link-Belt for more than 30 years in both the crane and excavator segments of the equipment industry.

Other moves among crane rental companies include AmQuip's promotion of Frank Bardonaro Jr. to the position of president. He previously served as general manager and has been with the company for six years. Former president Joseph Wesley will stay on as the active chairman of the board for the company, which is based in Bensalem, Pa.
