Crane Rental Corp. Wins Safety Awards, Grows Fleet

 

June 11, 2014 - Crane Rental Corp.’s excellent safety record has recently earned recognition from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), the United Safety Council (USC), and the Florida Trucking Association’s Safety Management Council. The company also takes delivery of a new tower crane this month.

 
In SC&RA’s Crane & Rigging Group, the Orlando, Fla., company was awarded the overall Safety Award, Safety Improvement Award, and Zero Accidents Award. In the Transportation Group, the company earned Best Safety Record in the 1.5 to 5 million mile category, the Safety Improvement Award, and Zero Accidents Award.
 
Crane Rental Corp. earned the USC’s Gold Fleet Safety Award for outstanding driver safety performance, and the Gold Outstanding Lost-Time Prevention Award recognizing more than 36 months without a lost-time incident. The company also earned honorable mentions for the Lost-Time Prevention Award and the Corporate Safety Award.
 
The Florida Trucking Association’s Safety Management Council, in cooperation with American Trucking Associations, presented Crane Rental Corp. with the Great West Safety Award for “outstanding achievement in highway safety.” Crane Rental Corp. came in first place in the Under 5,000,000 Miles Bulk/Other category.
 
“We are honored to have our team’s commitment to safety recognized again this year by some of the leading associations in our industry,” Alan Ashlock, company president, said. All of Crane Rental Corp.’s employees participate in a Safety Incentive Program (SIP). The program measures each employee's safe behavior and professionalism in several key categories.
 
“Our employees are thoroughly trained and work hard to keep our jobsites safe,” said Mike Smith, safety director. “We are proud to receive recognition for their faithful effort.” Crane Rental Corp. maintains an industry-leading Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.63.
 
In other company news, Crane Rental Corp. takes delivery of a Terex Peiner SK-415 electric tower crane this month. The crane will go to work immediately in south Florida to join two of the company’s other tower cranes on a job scheduled to last twelve months.
 
This crane marks a steady increase in the company’s fleet. It has purchased several new machines over the last 12 months, including Manitowoc 16000 and 18000 crawler cranes; a 600-ton Terex AC 500-2 and a 275-ton Grove GMK 5275 hydraulic truck cranes.
 
Within that time period Crane Rental Corp. has also added an innovative high-capacity telescoping-axle Trail King dual-lane transport trailer with suspension beam, perimeter deck, dollies, and bolster options to its heavy-haul fleet.
 
“We are seeing demand increase in almost every sector of our industry,” said Ashlock. “We are investing in new equipment in order to continue providing great service to our customers nationwide.”
