Custom Equipment Expands Dealer Network

November 7, 2007Richfield, Wis.-based Custom Equipment's distribution network continues to grow as the company signs on a number of new dealers in North America and throughout the world.

Aimed at larger independent rental companies, Custom Equipment's dealers for its Hybrid scissor lifts include Ahern Rentals and American Scissor Lifts, Inc. in the West; Midwest Aerials & Equipment, AirWorx Equipment & Supply, Liftworks, Titan Equipment, Beaupre Aerial Equipment, Wiese Equipment, Fox River Equipment Depot, and Milwaukee High Lift in the Midwest; Ahern Rentals, Hugg & Hall, and Equipment Depot in the Mid-South states; Allift Equipment, Premier Platforms, Louisiana Lift & Equipment, and Equipment Finders in the Southeast; and Arts Rental Equipment & Supply, Admar Supply Co., and Mobile Lifts in the Northeast. The company is currently focusing efforts on signing on more dealers in the southeast United States.

According to Steve Kissinger, president of Custom Equipment, the company has also expanded into Japan, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. It is currently testing machines for the Canadian and Australian markets as well. Our global business is a strong growth area for our company," he said, adding that areas like the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and East Asia are definite targets for growth.

Kissinger told Lift and Access that going global was not in his original business plan. “We learned about the regulations in Europe where they can't work one meter off the ground without being on a machine or on a platform with protective guard rails,” he said. “The Hybrid Lift is a perfect machine for that application.”
