Eagle West Provides Crane Services to Bear Mountain Wind Farm

February 10, 2009 – Eagle West Cranes, Abbotsford, British Columbia, and its wholly owned subsidiary Stampede Crane and Rigging have been awarded the crane services contract for the Bear Mountain wind farm. The project will start June 2009 and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2009.

 

“To date, Eagle West has been awarded 100 percent of the wind turbine hoisting work within the province of British Columbia,” said Bob Fairbank, chief operating officer of Eagle West. “When the Bear Mountain project is complete, our organization will have been responsible for the transportation and/or hoisting of 245 wind turbines throughout Western Canada.”

 

Owned by Altagas, the 100-megawatt wind farm will be located near Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and will consist of 34 wind turbine. Each wind turbine has a standard hub height of 262 feet and a total standing weight of 844,580 pounds.

 

Eagle West will use rough-terrain, all-terrain, and crawler cranes on the project, as well as a wide selection of rigging and support equipment. All equipment operators, riggers, and project managers will be employed by Eagle West.
