February 25, 2015 - Faymonville Manufacturing has introduced a new trailer concept, the HighwayMAX, for transporting loads in North America. The extendible, on-road, heavy-haul trailer has nine hydraulically steered pendulum axles and a technical payload of 260,000 lbs.
Designed to meet U.S. and Canadian trucking and hauling industry requirements, the HighwayMAX complies with national regulations for axle group dimensions to allow a maximum payload. The trailer can be retracted to attain a truck/trailer length no longer than 90 ft., eliminating the need for escorts in many areas in the United States and Canada. With a low tare weight of 62,500 lbs., the HighwayMAX's loading platform can be extended up to 89'2".
Other features include high point loads of 40,000 lbs. over each axle bearing and pendulum axles with a stroke of 23.6 in. and a turning angle of +/-60°. The hydraulic and mechanical fifth wheel load adjustment allows for maximum operational flexibility, as well as hydraulic gooseneck compensation with the first axle group. Additionally, it incorporates the fully metalized MAXProtect+ frame to protect against corrosion.
