Florida County Gets Hit by Second Crane Theft
October 15, 2008 • Another crane has gone missing in Lee County, Fla., just two months after a 15-ton crane was stolen from a jobsite, according to The News-Press. This time, the stolen machinery was a 17-ton, $380,000 crane being used to erect traffic lights for the Department of Transportation.
No one has been arrested in either crime, and while the sheriff's spokesman said it was too early in the investigation to determine whether the incidents are connected, he said the thieves were methodical and knew what they were looking for.
