Garden State Engine & Equipment Celebrates 30 Years
June 14, 2007 • GSE&E, a leader in the material handling crane industry, marks its 30th year in business. Co-founders
Founded as a crane repair shop, Baldasarre and Spalluto were known as the source for crane spare parts and service. Baldasarre's career spans more than 45 years in the crane industry. He began as a technician, which eventually led to sales and business ownership.
In 1978, GSE&E and Spalluto developed a non-conductive remote control system for use with block booms. The device, which prevents boom wire contact electrocutions, is credited with saving many lives and preventing numerous injuries.
In the late 1970s, GSE&E became distributors for some of the country's first imported knucklebooms. By demonstrating the advantages of the knuckleboom, in time savings and labor reduction, they quickly developed a market for this new method of material handling and delivery. GSE&E became the largest knuckleboom dealer in the country and is noted for the development of sales on a product that was in its infancy. GSE&E soon began to distribute National telescoping cranes and other related products.
Today, GSE&E is considered to be a material-handling specialist that only deals in truck-mounted material handling equipment such as wallboard unloaders, telescoping cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, trolley booms, conveyors and knucklebooms. The company has more than $1 million in spare parts inventory for all the products it sells and has more than a $5 million crane inventory. GSE&E also fabricates its own flatbed bodies for use with concrete block delivery, wallboard delivery and for use with conveyors.
Over the years, GSE&E has grown to a company that has more than 40 full-time employees, three full service locations and sales that reach into the millions annually. "We would like to thank all of our employees, customers and vendors for making this 30th anniversary possible and appreciate their continued support," said Baldasarre.
