Genie to Add New Washington Facility

August 20, 2008 • Redmond, Wash.-based Genie Industries has started working on a new facility in North Bend, Wash. The new facility will have two buildings, with a total of more than 190,000 square feet.

According to Dave Schille, director of parts and warranty for Genie, the facility will manufacture parts and have a service parts warehouse. When units are finished in Redmond, they will be sent to North Bend for consolidation and shipping.

“Our parts department has really expanded • we are out of space,” Schille said. “Plus, with all of the growth and congestion in Redmond, it is necessary to move our logistics center to safely ship our units.” Schille said the move is both a gain of space and efficiencies.

Certain operations will move from Redmond to North Bend, including parts, warranty and logistics. The company estimates there will be roughly 150 to 250 employees at the location.

The building progress is still in its early stages. The company is still in the permitting process, although it has been moving dirt since July 2008. The tentative opening for logistics is scheduled for Q1 of 2009; parts is scheduled for Q2 of 2009.
