November 12, 2007 • With more than 200 people looking on, officials of Hirschmann Automation and Control, Inc. cut the ribbon inaugurating its new North American headquarters on November 6, in Chambersburg, PA, just seven months after breaking ground for the building.

Ceremony attendees included Hirschmann executives from Germany, France, Spain, and Singapore; company employees and dealers; and representatives of state and local agencies involved in the building's development and construction. Those cutting the ribbon to mark the inauguration, from left to right, include Laurie Burns, Group Vice President of Sales, Hirschmann Automation and Control, Worldwide; Mark Hendel, CEO Hirschmann Automation and Control (U.S.); Reinhard Sitzmann, President and CEO of Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH; Terry Punt, Pennsylvania State Senator, 33rd District; and Wilfred Muskens, Deputy Secretary, Office of International Business Development, Department of Community and Economic Development.

According to Mark Hendel, Hirschmann CEO, the building was fast-tracked because the company was quickly outgrowing its previous location. Two years ago, 45 people worked at the office; today there are 76 employees in the new building. Hendel noted that the new building provides room for the company to grow. He estimated that there will be 100 employees and $100 million in sales by 2010, although Laurie Burns, group vice president of sales for Hirschmann worldwide, indicated that those numbers may be conservative.

Hirschmann's Electronic Control Systems division develops and produces systems for load indication and load moment limitation marketed under the brand names PAT, Krüger and Hirschmann.
