Industry's Best Trainers Lead the Way to Safe Jobsites
March 24, 2015 - The key to a safer crane and rigging industry starts with training professionals who bring insight and innovation to the field, engage students with interesting techniques, and instill a sense of ownership among their students. It’s the trickle-down effect. That’s why Crane & Rigging Hot Line plans to recognize the industry’s main safety motivators—our top training professionals—with its annual training excellence awards.
Endorsed by the Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals (ACRP), the Top Trainer Awards is a one-of-a-kind program in the crane and rigging industry. It celebrates trainers who open the eyes of new crane operators, riggers, and signal persons, as well as those who have spent a number of years behind the controls or on the jobsite.
This year, top trainers will be recognized for the following:
• Having a positive impact on students, the work environment, or the industry through the use of innovative training techniques or hands-on instruction;
• Encouraging peer or corporate accountability; and
• Proving their training was successful through quantitative or anecdotal evidence.
Winners will be recognized in two separate categories: corporate and professional. They will be named in the November 2015 issue of Crane & Rigging Hot Line. These two winners will receive recognition in the issue, complimentary registration to the 2016 ACRP General Assembly and Workshop, a trophy for their accomplishments, and a scholarship for continuing education. Scholarships may be used by the recipient for train-the-trainer courses, to earn a certification, or to attend an industry conference. Alternatively, the winners may donate their scholarship to a student for similar training or educational purposes.

The first 15 to submit a nomination for the Top Trainer Awards will receive a copy of the Hot Line Crane Guide, a blue-book guide for equipment that features specs, pricing, and historical data on crane models from more than 100 manufacturers dating back to the 1950s.
