IPAF to Hold Executive Summit on AWP Operator Training

IPAF

November 4, 2008 – The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) will hold an Executive Level Summit on aerial work platform operator training next week. The one-day event will be held at the Westin O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill.

The summit will address the question of how operator training standards can be raised and whether it is possible to agree to produce a minimum standard of operator training. The summit is an opportunity to review the issues and develop a strategy for implementing global operator training standards, according to Tim Whiteman, managing director of IPAF. The aim is to save lives and raise the standard across the industry by setting agreed training standards.

Ken McDougall, Skyjack group president, will open the meeting with comments. Tony Groat, executive vice president of AWPT, IPAF’s U.S-based operator training program, will review current laws. Whiteman will discuss the possibility of a universal standard and IPAF’s experience in Europe. Participants will also have time to review and discuss issues raised at the meeting.

For more information, contact Groat at (518) 280-2486 or tony.groat@awpt.org.
