IronPlanet Names Business Leader as Chairman, CEO

August 1, 2007 • IronPlanet, Pleasanton, Calif., has named Gregory Owens chairman and CEO of the organization, effective today. Owens also joins the company's board of directors.

Owens most recently served as managing director of Red Zone Capital, a Washington, D.C., private equity group. Prior to that, he was chairman and CEO of Manugistics Group Inc., a leading public supply chain management software company.

 

"Greg is a veteran business leader, and his proven ability to lead top performing teams makes him the perfect choice to take the reins at IronPlanet," said Ted Schlein, who serves on the IronPlanet board of directors from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB).

Owens joins IronPlanet, a leading online marketplace for used heavy equipment, with extensive experience and proven results in revenue growth and supply chain business management. He has served as global managing partner supply chain management at Accenture where he was a founding member of its supply chain group. Owens has served, or presently serves, on several outside boards including Serena Software, Inc., S1 Corporation and SecureWorks, Inc.
