IronPlanet Reaches $600 Million Mark in Online Sales
January 30, 2007 • Pleasanton, Calif.-based IronPlanet, an online auction house for used construction equipment and trucks, recorded 27 auctions that resulted in more than $163.5 million in gross sales. This translates to more than 30% growth over the previous year. Since its first auction in April 2000, IronPlanet has recorded over $600 million in public transactions.
“Last year was our most profitable year since inception,” said Robert Alleger, chief executive office of IronPlanet. “Our IronClad Assurance™ continues to lead the way as the only equipment guarantee of its kind, strengthening our relationships with customers, investors and equipment manufacturers.”
IronPlanet added more than 70,000 registered bidders in 2006, and increased the number of total auction bidders by more than 40 percent. The company's largest auction of 2006 was held December 14, accounting for nearly $11.4 million in equipment and truck sales.
