IronPlanet Introduces Shipping Calculator for Auctioned Items

September 28, 2011–IronPlanet, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based online marketplace for used heavy equipment, has added a new shipping calculator to the site that provides customers with estimated shipping costs for items selling in the company’s auctions.

Located on the shipping tab within the inspection report for items selling on the company’s website, the shipping calculator uses the location from the inspection report to automatically populate the item’s origin. The destination within the shipping estimator is prefilled with the user’s location, and can easily be changed by entering a different city or postal code within North America. After clicking the calculate button, the shipping estimator uses proprietary IronPlanet and Rounders Logistics technologies to calculate the shipping cost between the item’s location and the user’s destination.
