Isuzu will Supply Engines for Kobelco Cranes Sold in North America

May 11, 2021 - Kobelco Construction Machinery USA has arranged for an existing engine supplier to provide engines for nearly all of the cranes it sells in North America.

The agreement solves the problem created when engine supplier Hino Motors failed to receive EPA emissions certification for its new model-year engines.

Isuzu already supplies engines for Kobelco excavators. It will now also provide engines for nearly all of the cranes Kobelco sells in North America.

Those crane models include the CK 800, CK 850, CK 1100, CK 1200, CK 1600, CK 2000, and CK 2750 lattice-boom crawler cranes. The lone model not affected is the CK 3300, whose engine comes from a different manufacturer and meets the EPA emission standards.

Parts for existing cranes equipped with Hino engines in North America are still readily available from dealers, said Kobelco. Also, cranes already sold and delivered in North America meet EPA emissions standards, so are not affected by the change, according to Kobelco.
