JLG Calls for 2007 Telehandler Skills Challenge Applicants

A Lull 644E-2 places a load on a simulated jobsite at the 2006 Telehandler Skills Challenge.
In order to compete, applicants must be a telehandler operator who is at least 18 years old, can show proof of operator training, and is registered for the World of Concrete show. The challenge is limited to 25 participants. Contestants will be selected by the JLG committee and will be notified by January 8, 2007.
To compete in the 2007 Telehandler Skills Challenge, each contestant will choose one 6,000-pound capacity JLG, Gradall, SkyTrak, or Lull telehandler to operate through a closed course that is set up to emulate an actual jobsite. The operator must complete a pre-operation safety check (not timed), complete the skills course, and return the telehandler to the stored position and secure it as if it were the end of the work day. Each contestant will have one attempt.
The 2007 Telehandler Skills Challenge is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on January 23, and each contestant will be assigned a starting time. Contestants must be available to complete all their runs. Scoring is based on safety, accuracy, overall time, and following safety procedures. Specific scoring rules will be provided before the event.
The eight leading scores will move on to the finals, which will be held on January 25 at 1 p.m. The finals will consist of two runs. The contestant's official score will be the better of his/her two runs.
First place prizes for the 2007 Telehandler Skills Challenge include a 42-inch plasma TV and Honda 2500W generator. Second place will receive a Weber grill and
