JLG Commercial Solutions Group focuses beyond construction.
September 7, 2006 • In an effort to expand its access equipment distribution, the JLG Commercial Solutions Group is now focusing on supplying its products, including vertical stock pickers, vertical mast lifts, towable boom lifts, and trailers, to industries outside construction equipment rental. These industries include the commercial and industrial marketplace, which has different needs in terms of product, service, and expertise.

Headquartered in the recently re-opened Bedford, Pa., facility where JLG's stock pickers and vertical lifts are manufactured, the JLG Commercial Solutions Group has established a distribution mix that includes industrial dealers, catalogs, direct sales, and small rental centers to market these products to new users.
Additionally, big box retail chains are also distributing JLG's commercial machines through their rental and catalog operations.

According to Jeff Ford, JLG Commercial Solutions Group product parent: "What we have found by being closer to and more focused on these markets is that they have a need for access equipment, and their needs are very specific -- it's not simply selling our existing products into new markets. With minor modifications, we now offer the features these markets need to enhance worker safety, increase worker productivity and operate in a commercial or industrial environment.” Some of these improvements, he added, include enhanced drive systems that provide longer duty cycles, obstruction, and redesigned platforms with material containment systems.

In a number of applications, the equipment is operated continuously, which can affect the output of a warehouse or industrial facility. In order to keep the equipment up and running, Ford said that JLG Commercial Solutions Group also is developing a national network of dealers with factory certified technicians who can offer JLG”s complete fleet solutions programs that cover needs analysis, maintenance, and operations programs, as well as exit strategies.
