JLG relocated its Mid-Atlantic service center to Bedford, Pa.
June 18, 2008 • JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., has relocated its Mid-Atlantic Reconditioning & Service Center from McConnellsburg to Bedford, Pa. The 83,000-square-foot facility will continue to serve the eastern United States and Canada for aerial work platform reconditioning. JLG Bedford will also support JLG customers in the mid-Atlantic state for repair service. This new facility increases JLG's reconditioning and service capacity as well as enhancing related processes to reduce turnaround time for customer repairs and continuously improve quality.

“For our customers, reducing operating costs is critical to their success,” said Craig Paylor, JLG president. “By expanding JLG's reconditioning capabilities, we can contribute to improving customer profitability by helping to maximize the useful life of their equipment. The aerial work platform population has been growing and aging significantly over the past several years. JLG Mid-Atlantic and our other regional service centers can help JLG customers control the costs associated with these aging fleets.”

JLG's Mid-Atlantic Reconditioning & Service Center features an efficient assembly line process that involves completely disassembling an aerial work platform to its core then blasting, prepping and re-painting that core to like-new condition. Upon completion of the paint process, the machine is re-assembled with fully inspected new or rebuilt components. The completed product carries a six-month warranty and offers JLG's customers a cost-effective solution for dealing with older equipment.

In addition to reconditioning, JLG Mid-Atlantic offers repair service. Whether equipment has been damaged, requires major components to be repaired, or needs an overhaul, JLG Mid-Atlantic can complete jobs requiring time or space that our customers may not have.

ATLAS telehandlers are built for demanding military applications.
In other company news, JLG has received a delivery order valued at $10.3 million for additional JLG ATLAS telescopic material handlers under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract. The order for 72 ATLAS telehandlers, to be delivered over a six-month period, was awarded by the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM).

“JLG is proud to support the U.S. military with additional ATLAS telehandlers,” said Denny Buterbaugh, vice president of government products and programs at JLG. “The ATLAS model telehandlers were designed specifically to meet the needs of the U.S. military, and have been deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt and throughout the continental United States.”

Since 1997, the ATLAS telehandlers have proven their reliability in a variety of applications, and through all types of environments including mud, sand, water, and other rough terrain. Over 2,300 ATLAS machines have been fielded throughout the world. While many of them go into combat areas, the ATLAS has also been used in the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts, the Indonesian tsunami clean up, and other international relief efforts.

The ATLAS telehanders can lift and place material weighing 10,000 pounds to heights of nearly 17 feet. With their detachable counterweight, they can be prepared for air transportation on a C130 in 15 minutes. They are also air transportable in C-141, C5A and C17 aircraft.
