enhance the serviceability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness of its

The 1930ES is one of five machines with
updates.
During its study, JLG found there
were several features that customers valued in the Pro-Fit Series, such as the
machines' narrow width; the integral lift cylinder, pump, and motor; and the
electric drive system. However, the review also revealed that drive motor cables
were inconsistently routed when serviced and
subsequently became
damaged; brakes often corroded after they were serviced; and wheel rims would
bend upon high impact, such as when forklifts set the machines down too
hard or on an angle. Additionally, an analyzer was required to troubleshoot
the machines.

Cables now have lines indicating where they should
be clamped.
JLG also identified that platform
cables were too long, or operators would cut the plastic zip ties, and
they would then become damaged. The deck extension also had a 1-inch lip that
gathered debris in certain applications, and when running the machine, operators
found the function-ready delay was too long.

Brakes are never exposed to moisture with this
two-piece housing.
To keep drive motor cables from
sagging on the job, the cables now have lines indicating where they should be
clamped for appropriate adjustment. In order to prevent brakes from corroding,
they are now coated with a yellow chromate coating and are never exposed to
moisture through the use of a two-piece brake housing. Another upgrade is the
heavy-duty cast wheel, which better withstands jobsite
abuse.
On the platform, the 1-inch lip on
the extension track has been removed to reduce the amount of debris in the
track. Cable management also has been improved through the use of coil cable
design with a curved bracket to keep the cable out of the way and plated steel
fasteners to replace the plastic zip ties, which were often cut. In March 2007,
the function ready delay will be shortened from three to two seconds, and the
operator no longer needs to reboot if the function is engaged before the system
is ready. He will only need to re-engage the function.
Additionally, JLG has replaced
the PQ controller with a completely interchangeable J.R. Merritt joystick. Bill
Dovey, product champion - scissors, said the J.R. Merritt replacement cost is
considerably less than the PQ. "We want our scissors to be low cost and easier
and quicker to service," he said.

An on-board MDI display now shows a fault code
number.
Troubleshooting now has been made
easier. The analyzer is no longer required • although it can still be used • to
find where the machine needs to be serviced. Instead, a fault code number is now
shown on an on-board MDI display, and users can look up the code in the manual
to locate the area that needs to be serviced.
