April 3, 2007 • The tallest • and newest • lifting equipment in the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA)'s 140-vehicle fleet was christened recently.

A 38-ton Altec Industries AC38 boom truck was delivered last week to Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility, which expects the crane to pay for itself through reduced crane rental costs.

With a working height of 168 feet, the telescopic boom truck will be used by utility crews for the construction and repair of utility poles and lines.

In anticipation of the crane's arrival, KUA crews recently completed crane operations training by using a loaner vehicle supplied by Altec Industries, which is based in Birmingham, Ala.
