Kobelco VP Pledges $20,000 to SC&R Foundation

August 29, 2008 • Jack Fendrick, vice president of Kobelco Cranes, made a $20,000 contribution commitment to the SC&R Foundation to help fund industry scholarships, research and education. This contribution follows a $25,000 contribution made by Kobelco in late 2007.

"The timing of this major gift is exceptional because the foundation is preparing to make a fall 2008 push to advance the three-year Perpetual Investment Campaign that will continue through 2011," said Doug Miller, foundation president. "This is yet another example of the incredible generosity we've witnessed from SC&RA members within the past year."

Anderson Trucking Service followed up a $25,000 gift in the fourth quarter of 2007 with the recent donation of a custom-built chopper valued at $52,000. Additionally, XL Specialized recently donated a world-class trailer with a value of $50,000.

The foundation is now selling up to 500 tickets for the chopper at $250 each and up to 200 raffle tickets for the trailer at $500 each. Winners for the trailer and chopper will be selected during SC&RA Annual Conferences in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Winners need not be present to win.

The new mega-raffles continue a tradition started last spring when WHECO donated a large food smoker, which raised $15,400 for the foundation during the SC&RA Annual Conference in April. After winning the smoker, Dan Rosen, Fontaine Trailer, donated it back to the foundation. The foundation earned an additional $5,300 at a second raffle for the smoker during the Specialized Transportation Symposium in June. Bennett International donated transportation services for the smoker.

Tickets for the mega-raffles are available on the SC&RA website at www.scranet.org. Members may purchase tickets or learn more about making donations to the foundation by contacting Sue Madden at (703) 698-0291 or smadden@scranet.org. Raffle tickets will be sold at the 2008 Crane & Rigging Workshop and other upcoming SC&RA meetings. All proceeds will go to the foundation.
